Drought Indices to Map Forest Fire Risks in Topographically Complex Mountain Landscapes
نویسندگان
چکیده
Drought has the potential to lead forest fires. Forest fires generally occur during dry season when mountain slope experiences a water deficit. identification based on remote sensing is useful for mapping in Arjuno- Welirang and TNBTS (in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park). This research used Landsat-8 images 118/065 118/066 August November 2015-2018. Validation data were obtained using high resolution planet scope rainfall data. Three drought indices tested identify fires, namely TVDI, VHI NDDI. The visually meteorologically SPI. From results of accuracy test correlation, TVDI had highest Arjuno-Welirang (96% accurate), while best index was accurate).

Fire in Southern Forest Landscapes
Other than land clearing for urban development (Wear and others 1998), no disturbance is more common in southern forests than fire. The pervasive role of fire predates human activity in the South (Komarek 1964, 1974), and humans magnified that role. Repeating patterns of fire behavior lead to recognizable fire regimes, with temporal and spatial dimensions. Understanding these fire regimes is es...

متن کاملSpatial Characteristics of Fire Severity in Relation to Fire Growth in a Rocky Mountain Subalpine Forest
We compared the spatial characteristics of fire severity patches within individual fire “runs” (contiguous polygons burned during a given day) resulting from a 72,000 ha fire in central Idaho in 1994. Our hypothesis was that patch characteristics of four fire severity classes (high, moderate, low, and unburned), as captured by five landscape metrics, would vary with the size of the run (ranging...
متن کاملPrincipal Component Analysis and Self-Organizing Map for Visualizing and Classifying Fire Risks in Forest Regions
Dataset compiled from spreading hot spots, responsible for fire risk in many regions of Indonesian forests, are complex, primarily induced by the large size of the observed regions and high variation of hot spot distribution. The challenge in analyzing this type of dataset is to develop statistical techniques that facilitate the analysis, visualization, and interpretation of the results. Techni...
متن کاملSimulating effects of fire on northern Rocky Mountain landscapes with the ecological process model FIRE-BGC.
A mechanistic, biogeochemical succession model, FIRE-BGC, was used to investigate the role of fire on long-term landscape dynamics in northern Rocky Mountain coniferous forests of Glacier National Park, Montana, USA. FIRE-BGC is an individual-tree model-created by merging the gap-phase process-based model FIRESUM with the mechanistic ecosystem biogeochemical model FOREST-BGC-that has mixed spat...
